"Did we catch enough to cover the price of the fishing gear?"
Ingredients
crabs
scallions
ginger
salt
Steps
First, procure some crabs. Either at your local grocery store or catching them in the ocean!
Start by thoroughly cleaning the crabs, especially if wild caught. You can use a metal scrub to more all of the dirt and grime off the shell and legs.
Prepare the crabs for cooking by removing the top shell and internal gills. If you fished for wild crab, make sure you contact your local department of fish and wildlife to check for the presence of bio-toxins. They may encourage you to thoroughly clean out the viscera.
After that, cut the crabs in half down the middle.
To make them easier to eat, you can slice into individual chunks.
Now we are ready to fry.
Start by heating up a wok with a little cooking oil.
Add thin strips of ginger. Stir fry briefly to release the flavors.
After that, add the crabs and stir fry.
Notice the change in color as the crab gets cooked.
Then add a little water. You don't want to boil the crabs. You just want enough to be able to steam cook.
Cover and let it cook through.
When the crab is done cooking, add a dash of salt and mix it in.
Add some scallions and stir fry.
Transfer the crab onto a serving plate.
Optionally, feel free to add some fresh cilantro as a garnish and serve!
